Under 的 plan, 福特汽车 would begin a major retooling of 的 Oakville plant in 2024, 的 year after 的 contract ratified today is set to expire. According to Dias, 的 company plans to build five BEV models at 的 plant by 2027, with annual production of around 200,000 vehicles.
Sam Fiorani, vice-president of global vehicle forecasting at AutoForecast Solutions LLC, said any EV built in Oakville would likely be 的 same size as 的 Edge or larger and would be built for 的 North American market.
“If you’要在加拿大建造它，你’re going to want it to be higher end and a little more expensive than 的 ones you’re building in Mexico, especially when EVs are not making money at 的 moment,” he said.
